Update and Some Paranormalogistically Related Thoughts

It has been a while since I actually wrote anything for this blog except for reposting a few excellent pieces from fellow bloggers. However, I have had some things rolling around in my head for a while and if I don’t get some of it out, my head may explode. My other life…maintaining a country property, flower and vegetable gardens, and some chronic health conditions, have kept me continuously fatigued and in no way eager to do any kind of writing. I do have a few things I’m working on and will post those here when they are ready. I do expect to keep on reblogging interesting and well-written articles. I do this daily in other social media outlets and see no reason not to share what I can here as well. I entirely believe in spreading the word and as it goes, I read voraciously every time I get a break. In fact, I escape into the paranormal, universal and quantum sciences as a way to unwind, relax and enjoy myself and as a reward for working through another tiring and painful day. A couple of things I want to say here have just been bugging me for a while and are not so much rants as a heads up. So here goes.

Do NOT buy used paranormal investigation equipment. I don’t care if you know the people who are selling it and trust them completely. Used equipment has been over used, abused, hooked, unhooked and put away wet time after time. By the time you get this stuff you can look forward to a dvr hard drive crash, batteries that won’t hold a charge, and others errors and break downs due to the rough road these electronics have already traveled. You might have scored an incredible deal on that fully loaded dvr but let a hard drive go down or something fry the whole damn thing and you have the expense of fixing it at a ridiculous fee and it will end up costing as much or more as a new unit would have. Buy it new with a warranty and if it fails then you might have some way to get it fixed without it killing your wallet. In the mean time, take care of what you have folks. This stuff doesn’t come cheap and it really isn’t meant for the uses and reuses we put it through, so be gentle with your “ghost hunting” gadgets.

I do think I’m just about done using the word “afterlife”. I believe I’ll start going with “nextlife”. The word afterlife has been so over said and prostituted by the news media, television and internet and delcared gazillions of times by paranormal investigators, including myself. The word itself makes no real sense to those of us who believe in life after physical bodily death…and parallel dimensions, alternate timelines and multiple universes. It indicates that the afterlife is later in time, whereas, the nextlife indicates another life next to this one, anywhere in time and immediately adjacent to or beside this physical life. I mean to say that this life and the next life and the previous life and on and on…are all next to each other rather than one after another. Maybe the word has just grated on me long enough just like the above detested “ghost hunter” reference.

Spelling. I recently received a request on a favorite social media website and when I went to check their profile, I found a two line description with four spelling errors. I did not scroll down to look at anything else, I just left. This particular group didn’t impress me as being the brightest lightbulbs in the package. Now hey…I’ll like just about any para page you can throw at me but seriously. There really is no excuse for this laziness in communication. I’ve seen this sloppy spelling and grammar increase a great deal recently and I just don’t understand why. I know I take creative license a lot with punctuation, especially commas, but it doesn’t look like a first grader wrote it either. So if you are not 100 percent sure how to spell something, look it up. Same goes for proof reading your work before you put it out there. Find the typos and fix them. If you want to be taken seriously at the outset, you cannot write that you are “A paranormul teem with grate skil for finding yor gosts and helping yor famly. We do no chagre for are survises we are hear to help yoo.” Ok…that may be a bit over the top but not by much from what I’ve seen around the net lately. Have some respect for yourselves folks, educate your mind. If you ever find a misspelled word or typographical error in my work, please let me know. Poetry doesn’t count 😉

So… since it seems that I am getting a whole lot more reading done than writing, I would love it if you posted a link to your paranormalogistically related blog or website in the comment section below. I will get to it eventually and very often I find something I will repost all over the place so bring it on. You can find me on the social media links to the right of this post, and there you’ll find tons of articles and blog posts that you won’t find here. And if you would like to add to the thoughts above please feel free to say what’s on your mind.

  1. I fixed it Patrick, thank you. Figures it would be the last sentence lol. At least I didn’t misspell the darn thing 😉
